road trip!

Time for a BLR work retreat and meeting of the minds. We have mountains to move and things are rolling!

Eastbound I go, where I will have one of my favorite people greet me, and more to join. There will be music made (surprise on that soon,) fresh food eaten, wine for sipping, hills to run, a dock for sitting, and mornings to wake up and be utterly inspired to get things done.

No better place to have kick off to the new life of Blue Lollipop Road than here:

Blue Lollipop Road feet on my favorite dock in the world

Where do you get inspired to do your best work?

be one audacious person

A couple of years ago, an old boss tossed a book my way after returning from a convention, respectfully sassing me with a “Here- this guy talks about the same crap you do all the time.”

It was autographed:

Diane~

Let love rule

As you advise Tim. Thank you, and yes I will- always.

The Book was Love Is the Killer App: How to Win Business and Influence Friends by Tim Sanders. I gobbled it up in one afternoon and became a big fan. Since then I have recommended this book to several people and loaned my copy too. I follow Tim’s blog occasionally and while poking around tonight clicked on this post about being audacious. (Amen to that!) I particularly liked this portion of the post:

3. Be Tenacious – It’s going to take some time, and some serious persistance if you want to change the world.  You’ll need a long term plan, and a thick skin to withstand criticism and adversity.

Isn’t that the truth.

As I start my first week with BLR as my full on, full time gig- no other job to interrupt my work flow, I am happy. So happy. I’ve already been working my tail off all weekend barely leaving my apartment because I love what I am doing. (That is a great feeling.) I want to change the world, and the last thing I am afraid of, is putting in lots of hours and being persistent to do it.

How are you being the power of one? How are you being audacious and tenacious?

launching myself

Freedom Friday has arrived! So what’s the big deal and big announcement?

I quit my job.

Yep.

The one that pays me actual money.

Why?

Lots of reasons, but most importantly because it was a toxic environment, not aligned with what I want my future to look like, and it was getting in the way of my goals for Blue Lollipop Road. Full on dive-bomb jump time is now or never.

So I jumped and I don’t doubt for a second that I will find a parachute.

I’m coming up on 18 years of travel, 4 years of this Blue Lollipop Road entity and I am nearing 34 years old. I know what I want, what I don’t want, and what I am capable of. I also know now is the time to take my experiences and efforts to support and encourage other people to follow the best paths to reach their goals.

So this is Freedom Friday because we live in America people! Did you know you can actually do anything you want to do.

Awesome right?

I’m off to a celebration lunch, so more soon- but I will leave you with one question:

Are you somewhere you don’t want to be or doing something you don’t want to do with your time? If so, what decisions are you making today to move toward what you actually do want?

I don’t know about you, but I’m sure not getting any younger.

Write me if you’re ready to dive-bomb jump. I can help you find your parachute.

i should pay starbucks…

…for all the unplanned and totally random, awesome connections and moments I have made while working from their billion locations.

Just now, business guy next too me updating friend: “Yeah, so my son graduated and he’s on his way to Alaska. He wants to stay there for the summer and be a fisherman. My wife is kind of freaking out.”

Of course I invited myself to butt in the conversation with: “Let him! Oh my god! Please! It will be the coolest thing ever for him to experience and will make him a better human. I really believe that, I have done this for a long time, I am nearly 34. You can even call my mother- she will tell you that by me travel and trying new things- moving to where I’ve known very few people and very little about, has helped me become a most resourceful and overall badass fearless person. Isn’t that what every parent wants?”

Bam.

I’m closing my computer and walking out the door of Starbucks now. Thanks Starbucks.

Hey business suit guy with the kid who wants to go fishing~

If you love him and want him to become the best kid you could dream of- let him go! I promise you’ll never regret it and neither will he. if you are reading this , send me an email or note here. I love sharing my “road” resources and I know some amazing people from my time in Alaska. I’m happy to help!

Here’s to one life. Do it while you can…:)
