There was just something about waking up on a desert morning. Fell in love with Las Vegas. Not even a gambler, but the casinos are mesmerizing. There is something about how everything there is so over the top, and when you head out of town you see something totally different. So cliche, but there was something about that town that made me want to stay 4 ever. (especially after spending last 10 yrs in Alaska)

I’ll stick with Richmond, VA. Sorry… seems silly, but I have my reasons…We get all 4 seasons, enough snowfall to call it a winter, but not so much to be snowbound for more than 2 days. We are 2 hours from the beach, 2 hours from scenic mountains and 2 hours from DC. We have quality theaters, quality museums (Picasso Exhibit in town), quality local music scene… seem to have some of the north, mixed with some of the south. Richmond is historic… walk down Monument or Hanover street and check out the homes. Big enough to be a city, but with a small town feel.
Plenty to do… if you are an athlete. Volleyball clubs, soccer clubs… you name it, you can probably play it or participate in it in some organized manner.
Don’t get me wrong, love visiting other places… they are beautiful.. but for home, leave me in Central VA…. got everything I need within a short drive.

March 10, 2011 at 4:18 amI know it’s another country, but I’m really partial to Vancouver Island. I lived nearly 30 years of my life in Ontario and the two cannot compare.
I’ve travelled many places in North America and the Pacific Northwest has my heart.
