tax day reveal

Nobody likes Tax Day, but maybe this year it will be a little more fun for us all, because the BRAND SPANKING NEW BLR site will launch on April 15th!

Can I get a…

(You know…:)

I got the first glimpse of the new site last week and I nearly jumped out of my skin it was so perfect. (And it was just the first draft!) Thanks to Aaron Frey of Frey Brothers Media, my Blue Lollipop Road is about to get a whole lot brighter. I can’t wait to share what we’ve been working so hard on!

This is year 6 for BLR. What a crazy, awesome and unexpected ride. I’m so proud and excited for all that’s happening as a result of serious love and dedication.

What are you dedicated to?

solo travel = badass

Boy did the Today Show miss out on the perfect person to have on this solo travel segment. Me! I wonder if the woman who was rattling off her tips for travel has ever driven alone to Alaska, slept in her car at truck stops around the country, run trails around Bermuda alone, or sat in a Denny’s outside Oklahoma City sipping coffee while chatting with a 70 year old self proclaimed cowboy in the middle of the night. Just sayin’ 🙂

Hey Today Show! Hire me to be your expert next time. Solo travel is my middle name!

For anyone else who’s reading this, go forth and go far young ones, old ones, meek ones, bold ones! And go alone. The great world awaits! There’s no better way to find out what you’re made of and build a healthy sense of independence that will take you big places in life, than hitting the road…alone. Don’t worry and don’t be afraid, your peeps will be there when you get back. Go earn yourself a badass card. It’s totally liberating. You will have a blast. I promise.

Need some inspiration or a few ideas before hitting the “road”? Check this out, and happy travels!

How do you find your inner badass?

if I met you at the gap year fair a few hours ago and you’re reading this now…

…HI!!!

I loved chatting with students & parents about the big wide open amazing world that’s out there and why it is so incredibly important for young adults to get out and experience all they can before making big life decisions. I’m probably more passionate about this subject than any other, so it thrilled me to be at the USA Gap Year Fairs tonight, and see so many people open to the concept of a Gap Year.

I hope those I met and shared my information with, will drop me a line and let me know if I can help guide you in any way. I promise, if you take some time for travel and self-learning after high school, you will 1.) Have the time of your life 2.) Meet people and see places you never dreamed of 3.) Become a better human 4.) Find clarity about who you are and what you want 5.) Be best equipped to meet and exceed each and every one of your goals.

Believe.

I’m a huge advocate for Gap Years and living outside the otherwise pre-planned life schedule.

Today is the day. What are you waiting for?

Don’t you just love it when your pancake comes out of the kitchen with a swirl in the middle of it, that you can make into an “R?”

I do!

The rest of the deliciousness on that plate is the bottom half of my scrambled egg and cheese biscuit sandwich, and this amazing fresh made local blackberry jam that Zada Janes Corner Cafe’ has on every table. That jam calls to me! Twist my arm, jam! I guess I will have to slather you all over my fresh-made biscuit…yet again.

Mmmm. I love you, brunch.

I had coffee today with LT, owner of Pistol Polish. She’s a member/has an office where I sometimes work. I thought her company looked fun & interesting, so of course emailed her curious to learn more.

Well, you would’ve thought we were long lost friends the way the two of us sassy Yankee ladies instantly started chatting about anything and everything, barely taking a breath between words. It was a blast! I’m always impressed to meet those, I want to work for myself so I’m going to make it happen go-getters. Bonus that LT is not only a super smart & savvy business woman, but she’s hilarious and a blast to be around too. I love that she let me play around with some bottles of her nail polish:

Do you see what I see? This bottle below looks pretty close to Blue Lollipop Road Blue!

Maybe I’ll be able to talk her into naming a blue polish, Blue Lollipop at some point:)

If you’re a mani-pedi kind of gal (or guy!) and are always looking for a new color for your nails delivered right to your door- check out the Pistol Polish subscription options.

If you’re not a mani-pedi kind of gal, you’ll still be inspired by LT’s message to be your best badass self:

pis•tol: noun; a refined yet fiery woman

A PISTOL Woman envisions who she wants to become – whatever that may be – and devotes her life to making that vision a reality. PISTOLs chase their dreams every damn day.

Amen, sister!

Nothing says Super Bowl Party, like red Solo cups, Doritos, chicken wings, meatballs, and guac & chips:

Maybe our party should have offered to feed the Broncos so they would’ve had some energy to actually make something happen in that game! (Look at me talkin’ smack when I don’t really even care about football:)

Whoop! The temperature got above 50 degrees today! Feels like It’s been a while, so we had to get outside and go for a hike at Kings Mountain State Park:

Playing with mud, rocks, sticks, and leaves is fun. Being in the great outdoors with good company that helps you collect rocks and sticks is uber fun.

Here’s to weekends outside!

I fulfilled my week-long hankering for the best veggie burger around today, and we went to Pinky’s for lunch. I was starving, so I thought a fried pickle app was a good idea. Then we decided to play with them and the condiment tray:

Nothing like a responsible 35 and 41 year-old squirting hot sauce, ketchup, and mustard all over the place for reasons of blog post. The staff at Pinky’s is so chill they never would have yelled at us for making a mess of the table anyway:)

If you are in/near/ever visit Charlotte, you must eat at this place! (I recommend the Nature Boy. Mmm…) Walls are covered with random tchotskys, there’s a photo booth, pinball machine, colorful tatted up staff who give speedy friendly service, and a million yummy burger combos (and non-burger) fresh-made options as well. A perfect overall funky vibe of relaxed cool.

I’m soooooo full. (And happy.)

This is my Blue Lollipop Road. Wanna show me yours?

when two people who don’t know each other…

…send you the same link on the same day in an email reading: “Did you see this?!” – it probably means you should share it with others too. (And that those around you might know you better than you think they do, or better than you know yourself.)

Read this from America’s Finest News Source; The Onion.

Roots? I’d say more like temporary stickies, but hey- you never know.

Where do you call home?
