i love this guy

Farmer Brad Peacock

(I mean- how cute is he? He also happens to be my little brother, Brad:) I took this photo when we were goofing around at the West River Farmers Market in Vermont last year. Brad is a farmer. One among the many who work humbly and tirelessly to grow all that fresh delicious food that keeps us healthy. Check out this article he’s in!

Below is at the same farmers market last year. 3 of the 4 Peacock “kids.”  (Oldest ,DJ not pictured.) Youngest in the fam, Erin is on the right:

Diane, Brad, and Erin Peacock at the West River Farmers Market

…she often works at Clear Brook Farm with Brad and the crew between her travels. Yay for amazing siblings! Yay for farmers! Three cheers and hats off to all the farmers out there who work their fingers to the bone to provide our communities with the best food possible.

Where’s your favorite farm?

it’s nice to share

If you’ve read here for any amount of time, you know that I love, love, love Roadtrip Nation. I randomly walked by a table in 2003 at my local VT bookstore, and this book caught my eye. I bought it was hooked: Instant superfan.

I’ve kept in touch and followed RTN for 10 years now, and met one of their Green RV crews in Chicago a couple summers ago which was a blast. Well, as usual the awesome peeps at RTN have been busy, still doing great work after all these years, and still growing. They’ve just launched a “Share Your Road” page on their website this week. (Of course I will submitting my road share.) In the meantime- you should share yours!

I love you Roadtrip nation! Keep doing good work.

How do you define your own road?

Remembering how lucky I am. Remembering who I love. Thankful for what I have, today and every day. Sending thoughts to anyone out there who has lost someone they love.

Whether it’s, September 11th, or August 18th, whatever day of the year might hit your heart harder than the rest of the 364 days, the reminder ultimately is- the time is now. Time is passing, live how you want, tell someone when you love them, spend time doing things that matter. Speak up, go, do it, get it, be it- because you just never know.

What are you waiting for?

my summer romance

I fell in love this summer. Seriously in love. My new main squeeze?

Little Moose lake in The Adirondacks.

*Wait- did you think I was talking about a guy? Sorry to confuse you. Although there was/are/is some/a special person/s in my life- I won’t divulge anything about that department right now. I’m all about being as transparent as Saran Wrap about most everything, just minus the man part. I have to keep something to myself! 🙂

Back to The Adirondacks:

Adirondacks: Little Moose Lake

Hello lover.

I love you when you’re cloudy and misty during coffee time:

Adirondacks: Little Moose Lake

…when you’re sunny during coffee time:

Adirondacks: Little Moose Lake

…when your sunsets are imperfect and grey:

Adirondacks: Little Moose Lake

Adirondacks: Little Moose Lake

…and when your sunsets are perfectly breathtaking:

Adirondacks: Little Moose Lake

I love you when I look through your trees across the lake:

Adirondacks: Little Moose Lake

Adirondacks: Little Moose Lake

…when your big puffy clouds are above:

Adirondacks: Little Moose Lake

…when the water is so still like a mirror, I almost can’t tell where the lake ends and the sky begins:

Adirondacks: Little Moose Lake

Adirondacks: Little Moose Lake

…and I love you for your views on a hike:

Yes, I am in love with The Adirondacks. They’ve certainly given my all-time favorite USA summer spot, The Finger Lakes Region, a run for their money.

Where did you fall in love this summer?

where is the best place to live?

Think about where the largest concentration (or at least a couple) of key humans who you feel the love from, are. Those people who get you. As in- not only enjoy when you come around flying your freaky quirk flag, but encourage you to fly it and can’t wait to see you flying it. These people are the ones who you may have known for 6 days months or 66 years. They regularly challenge and stretch you, and call you out when you need it- but would never for a minute want to change a thing about you. Add in they make you laugh too, and you have a winner winner chicken dinner. The rest is just details.

Yeah.

I’m getting smarter in my old age.

If you’re a slow learner like me- welcome to the club. Keep swinging the bat, following your heart and gut, and never let anyone give you any shit. You’ll eventually hit a home run and find your place. (Or places.)

Where’s your place?

road trip!

I’m heading to get some last northern green space love in my favorite place ever in the summer : Upstate, NY. Adirondacks- here I come! I’ve got a pile of books packed and lots of BLR homework to-do’s. A perfect writing and work place to be inspired, especially on mornings with coffee overlooking a scene like this:

Happy morning feet in the Adirondacks

(This one is from my July visit there.)

A few days back in the north to celebrate the last of summer fresh country air will be icing on the cake to my most fantastic, odd, growing, and clarity filled summer yet.

This is my Blue Lollipop Road. Where is yours?

Thinking about my girls. 19 years ago today, my life changed forever.

I’m so thankful for every minute I have with the people I love, and with those who make me laugh. I’m thankful for memories I have, that will never die. I’m thankful to have known 2 people that showed me pure joy and zest for life when they were here, and who continue to inspire me to be fearless and live fully every day even though they’re gone.

This is for you Maria & Brandy:

Diane's blue lollipop tattoo

I miss you every day, especially on this day- but the power of the blue lollipop always makes me smile and feel like you’re right here with me.

How do you remember your friends?
