just so thankful

Where do I begin with the thank you’s?

On a daily basis I am thankful for lots of things: Friends, family, adventure, cheese, chocolate, glitter, etc. and all the minutes I have to enjoy these things- but since starting to plan BLR Play It Forward, I’m even more thankful that usual. Individuals and organizations galore have stepped up to volunteer their time, services, networks and other to help me make this dream a reality.

There will be a gazillion more thanks moving forward, but for today I would like to thank:

*Kate Emma Adams Schlosser and Traci Molloy for being amazing friends and partners in planning crime.

*Bobby Holliday of Eclectic Graphics, for being so incredible generous with time and skill to rebuild the BLR site once again.

*WBTN Radio 1370AM Radio and David Lively for my interview this morning. (Another interview in studio will take place Thursday 8/16 at 8:30am so mark your calendars and tune in!)

*The Town of Shaftsbury, VT for donating the use of Howard Park Facilities to us for the Strong Mojo Summit and Alumni Soccer Game 8/18.

*Tracy Bushee Designs for her awesome logo and poster creations for our event.

*Clear Brook Farm for donation of fresh delicious organic foods we will get to nosh on event weekend.

*Adam Wilson Photography for his volunteered services to capture all the special moments we will have 8/17 and 8/18.

*Mike Cutler for coordinating videographers and CATTV to document our day 8/18.

*The alumni who have sent in registrations to help fund the Blue Lollipop Road Memorial Scholarship.

*The families of Maria Greene and Brandy Brown who have been so thankful and supportive of us honoring their daughters who meant (and still mean)- so much to us.

I’m so happy and so thankful I just could not type enough thanks. There will be many more. Until then, if you all only knew the beginning of what this means to me.

23 days until a most special weekend is here.

donation received!

Donation just in this morning…

Thank you to Amy! Happy Friday to Blue Lollipop Road!

Other news in this morning from our friend and web guy extraordinaire Bobby- looks like our brand new site will be up and running this weekend! Our plates have been full with event planning, and we’ve added some new and exciting goods to the site, so things have taken longer than expected. Good things come to those who wait, so thanks for waiting patiently 🙂

We will be kicking off an official fundraising campaign, as well as announcing a very special surprise from one of the participating alumni when the site launches, so stay tuned!

photographer for blr play it forward

We are very excited to share that Adam Wilson will be our photographer for 8/18/12 weekend!

Adam happily jumped right in to volunteer to work with us and we didn’t even have to ask. We’re so thankful to the people and companies who’re donating time and services to our event. BLR Play It Forward and the Blue Lollipop Road Memorial Scholarship is all possible because a lot of generously gifted time from volunteers, paid registrations from alumni, and services/monetary donations from all of you out there. This all continues to prove to us that when you do work that matters, people really do want to jump in and help. That is a very powerful and motivating thing!

Thank you Adam! We are looking forward to working with you.

…we’ll be back with many more thanks soon…

Yippee!

A donation was just sent in yesterday to help support the BLR Play it Forward Event & Blue Lollipop Road Memorial Scholarship. We just got one today too! What a lovely surprise popping in during the day when we are plugging along working here.

Thanks to Gail and thanks to Jim. You’re making us smile and helping us to encourage young people to travel and maintain a healthy & active lifestyle- how great it that?!

The spirit of Blue Lollipop Road is seriously buzzing…

busy hometown blr play it forward prep

By now you know that I am back home in Vermont. I decided to make the 900 mile road trip from Chicago a few days ago because working satellite on an event that means pretty much everything to you (that would be me)- is tough. It’s a bonus that in addition to working on our awesome event, my timing was perfect for partaking in this past weekends mad feast of the best ever VT strawberry season. Yum:

Clear Brook Farm Strawberries

I get to see family, and hang with a few friends too while I’m here. (If I can make the time for it all that is!)

After 10 months of planning from so far away, being in the actual place that BLR Play it Forward will happen makes it all that much more real and exciting. I’ve toured the park/fields where events will take place 8/18/12, visited my old elementary school for the first time in about 22 years, met with various Chamber of Commerce folks, chatted with local business, and there are plenty more meetings and greetings scheduled for this week. I can’t wait!

I’m thrilled to officially announce our first round of sponsors/donors:

*The town of Shaftsbury, VT: Full usage of Howard Park facilities for the Strong Mojo Summit and Alumni Game

*Web Designer Bobby Holliday: Web services to completely re-build www.bluelollipoproad.com that will launch later this week

*Tracy Bushee ~ Graphic Design : Event logo. ( Contact for graphic design services: [email protected] )

*Clear Brook Farm: Donation of locally grown, fresh organic foods. See above strawberries for a sample of their deliciousness 🙂

*Willy’s Variety Store & Bakery: Donation supply of our famed blue lollipops

We are so incredibly thankful for these individuals and companies who have jumped right in to help make this event possible, and Blue Lollipop Road looking It’s best! If you, or your company would like to sponsor or donate to help support our event logistics and the Blue Lollipop Road Memorial Scholarship Fund, please click here or contact Diane Peacock:

A million thank you’s to Paul in Chicago and Matt in Vermont!

Blue Lollipop Road is sustained by donations, so every little bit helps from anyone out there. I will continue to work hard everyday, building this brand and message; travel, discover, play and grow.

Life is short. Get up and out in your community and the world around you. be curious, stay active, and always do work you believe in. Oh the possibilities…

thank you thank you!

The gratitude continues to awesome, generous (and funny) people who support Blue Lollipop Road:

*Huge thanks to Matt at DPI Inc. in Wilmington, NC who has made and donated BLR signage for the 2012 Hybrid Civic I will be driving. You rock Matt! Thanks for always being a fan and keeping me visible as I continue down the highways of life!

*To reader T, who had a good time teasing me yesterday about my “Ancient Old Lady” check book balancing from my office photo. You crack me up. Yes that new fangled online banking plus a good ol’ pen and calculator. I cover all my basis (and I am still laughing 🙂 I’ll take the teasing any day of the week. Thanks for being such a loyal reader!
