blue lollipop road reunion soccer weekend!

I have planned a weekend for female soccer alumni of my high school in Vermont to come together to reconnect and reminisce, play soccer, honor our past teammates, and give back to the community we grew up in. I’ve been working on things for months. Some of the biggest pieces are now set in place, so I wanted to finally share!

The Blue Lollipop Road Reunion Soccer Weekend will take place the weekend of August 18, 2012 in Shaftsbury and Bennington, VT.

Part of the festivities will include the STRONG MOJO summit- which will be  an opportunity for current female athletes to meet with former soccer  players. (That’s us!) We will share our life experiences since leaving high school through a leadership/mentor forum. There will be a memorial dedication to Maria Greene and Brandy Brown (our lost friends who inspired me to start BLR), an alumni soccer tournament, and of course, social gatherings.

There is no doubt that if I hadn’t been a part of soccer teams every year growing up, and if I hadn’t participated in the student exchange program through Mount Anthony High School like I did in 1994, I wouldn’t be the woman I am today and this site would not exist.
Through sport and having coaches who were incredible mentors (thanks Traci!)- I learned about teamwork, and confidence. I learned that by taking care of my body and exercising, that I would take care of my mind and soul too. When our team had all hands in before each game chanting: One…two…three…”STRONG MOJO!” we each knew we had the power together or alone- to go, be, and do anything. As I stood in Germany during my student exchange month abroad never having been out of the state of Vermont before, my eyes flew open to see there was a whole big world out there to discover. Since then, I’ve spent time in all 50 states and 13 countries. I’ve learned how to be resourceful, savvy, flexible, independent, and open. I’ve met people I would have never otherwise met, tried foods I never imagined I’d try, and seen sights that have taken my breath away. What I’ve learned most from athletics and travel is that I can do anything I set my mind to.
These are the messages I want to bring back to the place where I came from and share with the younger generation. It’s a pay back/pay forward for what has been a huge part of shaping my life. It brings Blue lollipop Road full circle after all these years.
Stay tuned for a fundraising campaign we will be launching for this event and get ready to spread the word!
With this announcement I will also share that this is a big shift time for BLR. There will be many site changes you will see here soon and a super exciting bit of fame news I’ll dish to you this week!
Here’s to running towards life and never forgetting where you came from.

finally sharing

…this week- PROMISE!

The announcement on the BLR event I’ve been teasing about for 2 months is coming by March 1. And? I just got some other AMAZING big news this morning on something that will be happening in the next few weeks. More on that too.

I need live video and audio streams for when this stuff happens. I am having a lot of screeching dance parties with myself in my apartment lately. In other words, things are finally hitting the tipping point.

Whoa.

Funny how even if you ‘re one of those people who believe all things are possible, when they actually then become real- you’re also one of those people standing around saying: WHAT?! Are you kidding me?!

Awesome.

Advice for the day: Spend time doing things you love. The rest will happen from there. Period.

change is gooooood

Notice anything new around here? Ever clicked on the “i” in the middle of the photo reel above? Behind the scenes is working away. You’ll notice a few Where’s Waldo changes while lots and lots more come as these next few months roll and we announce the big event/shift of focus for BLR.

Sigh. If I didn’t have to sling burgers and beers anymore to pay my bills, I could spend 24/7 here and do much more, and even faster. Dare to dream and be financed!

Soon enough I keep telling myself, soon enough. All I can do is keep plugging, and plugging. Something (or someONE) has gotta give eventually…

the power of the blue lollipop

***(Imagine me clapping and jumping around in the Apple store before I take a class right now looking like a looney tune because of an email that just popped into my inbox.)***

I feel a combination of wanting to sing out loud and cry with joy right now. Nearly 18 years in the works, some  amazing stuff is about to come full circle.

WAHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

It’s been lots and lots of weeks with me posting about the big kahuna of surprises coming soon but not sharing much information. I know you have been very patient, curious and missing my regular posts. (So I have been told anyway.) I promise I have been planning and working my tail off (with a couple very significant people to BLR) on the mother of all events (in my world of hopes and dreams anyway) on something that is much more important than daily fun posts about the life and times of a traveling chick. We just got a “yes” back on a big piece of our puzzle, so all signs are a go. 6.5 months from today, back where lots of lives changed forever, a group of people are going to come together to make some SERIOUS Strong Mojo happen. Most girls dream about their wedding day. Me?- This day coming soon would be my equivalent.

You didn’t know it until now- but you will all be involved too. (Yep, you who’s reading this.) We will need your help to make this the best event it can be. I cannot express my gratitude enough, to all of you- for following along my journey and encouraging me me stay on track adding miles to the Blue Lollipop Road. The power of what this has been to my life and will be to many others, is off the charts extraordinary.

Here’s to never forgetting, and always following your dreams.

thanks to the lady in the grocery store

An email just popped in my inbox from someone saying they love reading the Daily Awesome, and it made me realize how much I have enjoyed writing it these past few months. I feel all giddy and excited when I look forward, or back on my day and actually “put on paper” the little things that make me think to be thankful for.

Todays Daily Awesome feel especially awesome. Lessons from strangers, who don’t even know they’re giving them.

Also? Reader James who left a very nice comment on this post last week. Thanks James! I love getting feedback and am so happy you like visiting here. When you create something that means everything to you (like I have with this) and other people appreciate it, it’s pretty much the coolest feeling in the world- so thanks again! 🙂

What’s awesome in your Monday?

any truckers out there?

As in professional driving big-rig guys or gals. (The 18 wheeler kind.)

So much, so much going on behind the scenes of BLR and I’m in need of connecting with a trucker ASAP. If you or anyone you know is that person living life on the road- please let me know! Drop a line here by comment or send me an email:

Diane (@) bluelollipoproad.com

I appreciate any thoughts/connections!

It’s been quite a fall since the Honda trip and I have tons to report, I’m jumping out of my skin, just trying to be patient and get lots of work done before I let too many cats out of my bag!

Here’s to plugging away at what you love, no matter subject, thing, place, hobby, or job, because we all get better with practice. When you get better- you get noticed, when you get noticed- opportunity comes, and when opportunity comes- it makes those 341,987,302,874 hours of doing what you always knew would be something bigger, all the more sweet.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!

Push fear away in 2012 and go full steam ahead for what you want!

I’ve watched someone stuck in cement shoes of fear for my entire life. It’s incredibly heartbreaking and painful to watch a person you love more than anything live like this. I hope when I ring in 2013, she will have made the changes she needs and deserves to live a happy, healthy, full life.

There’s one promise I can make to you all out there: Absolutely nothing is as scary as we think “it” will be. Allow yourself to jump, even if you feel like you have no parachute. You will create your own without even realizing it, and wonder what the heck you were doing all those years waiting, being afraid, and wasting precious time that you will never get back.

Here’s to trusting and respecting yourself as much as you’d advise the ones around you to.

I’m here!

Holy company in town and busy holiday time! I’ve been playing tourist around Chicago with my company and not had a minute to spend online.

Lots of photos, updates and fun stories from this fall coming. More? A big fat announcement for something incredible for 2012!

By some miracle, Chicago has remained in the 40’s with no snow STILL and it’s almost January. Someone is clearly looking out for me for the one winter I spend here. That’s my continuing Christmas present!

More soon…
